About Us

The Workplace Equity & Civility Initiative began as a response to the #MeToo movement. The vision was to bring together small business, big business, nonprofits and labor organizations to address harassment and pay inequity in the workplace. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving the office of San Diego City Council President Pro Tem Barbara Bry, Lawyers Club of San Diego, the National Conflict Resolution Center and The San Diego Union-Tribune.

The initiative consists of:

• The Commitment, developed through the efforts of the initiative’s steering committee and open forums to establish standards for equity in the workplace.
• Toolkits, developed by Lawyers Club of San Diego, which offer information on laws involving harassment and pay equity in the workplace and ways to empower individuals to seek help when necessary.
• Interactive workshops, developed by NCRC to champion civility in the workplace and foster a more respectful workplace culture.
